What if you could spend your New Years…getting killed by Daleks over and over?
What, no volunteers?
That’s okay. We know some people ready to take one for the team – literally – in the upcoming Doctor Who special.
“Eve of the Daleks” premieres New Year’s Day, and the BBC just revealed another look at the episode. Check it out below.
Alright, now be honest – how many runs of the same 30 seconds did you get through before you got the time loop joke? (Did you see the 8-minute clip time and think we were getting a major sneak peek at the special like I did at first?)
The “new” trailer for “Eve of the Daleks” actually puts the previously released teaser on a loop – getting you ready to experience a time loop just like the characters in the special. Pretty clever! (Also, there is one different clip/bit of new footage hidden within the looping parts. Jump to just after the seven minute mark to check it out.)
“Eve of the Daleks” will kick off the beginning of the end of Jodie Whittaker’s run leading Doctor Who. With her seasons officially over, she’ll play the Time Lord for just three more special episodes, starting with “Eve of the Daleks” and ending with her regeneration in late 2022. Whittaker’s replacement has not yet been announced. (Though the actor recommended her own successor in a recent interview.)
“Eve of the Daleks” will also mark one of the last episodes overseen by showrunner Chris Chibnall. Chibnall will hand the reins over to Russell T. Davies, who returns to Doctor Who after spearheading the show’s revival back in 2005.
So, what did you think of this Dalek time loop? Are you excited to kick off 2022 with the Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz, and Dan? Let us know in the comments below.
