In an interview with the Associated Press, Hwang Dong-hyuk, creator of Squid Game, confirmed the series will return for season 2.

Squid Game took the world by storm with its twisted turns, and backstabbing characters. As hundreds of strapped for cash people from all walks of life accept an invitation to win a life-changing amount of money. The catch? 456 participants walk in, but only 1 can win the 45.6 billion dollars. Every game is a Korean traditional children’s game such as Red Light, Green Light, but the consequence of losing is death. Who will be the winner, and what is the purpose behind this game?”

Back when the series was first released, Netflix’s CEO predicted that Squid Game would be the biggest series in the history of the streaming platform. And he is correct. With 111 million views, the series is the most-watched on the streaming platform. So, it’s a no-brainer that this wildly successful, and imaginative series would get a season 2. The only questions are when and how?

Check out what creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has to say about season 2 below:

“So, there’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice,” he began. “But, I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen.”
