Well, it looks like by any metric that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a success. Why else would they announce news of a sequel?

Hmm, looks like a Chinese martial arts film, but in America.

The GWW reported that, among other Marvel projects, that there’s going to be a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This sequel, along with the other projects, are apparently all slated to begin production sometime in 2023. Unfortunately, they don’t specify exactly when in 2023 production will begin. Even worse, since it’s only the production that will begin in 2023, we still won’t see the actual film itself for a long, long while. We’ll just have to wait for more word from Marvel Studios and Disney about this later.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: Details

Looks like they’re skipping the whole “Villain is your father” reveal, and just going for a family drama. Nice.

Before we can talk about Shang-Chi 2 though, you might want to familiarize yourself with the first film first. Apparently, the hero of this story is a guy named Shang-Chi who wants to escape his past. Specifically: his father and his Ten Rings criminal organization. Unfortunately, his father and said criminal organization doesn’t want to just let him waltz on out, and wants him back. How? Well, you’re just going to have to watch this film for yourself to find out.

As of this writing, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently only available in theaters. However, Disney are planning to release the film for digital download on November 12, 2021. That’s also the day we’ll get to see it on Disney+. If you don’t care to head to theaters, then check it out on that date.

Conclusion

Shang-Chi 2 will begin production sometime in 2023. By all accounts, this means that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an unbridled success story for Marvel Studios and Disney. Maybe when we finally get to see the film on Disney+, it will become an even bigger success story. You know, because more people are getting to watch it.
