If you’d thought Ms. Marvel is immune to delays, well, you don’t know her very well, do you? Or rather, you don’t know Disney very well.

Hmm, too bad we won’t get to see what a live action Kamala Khan is like anytime soon now.

Variety released an article back on July 15, 2021 detailing every Marvel Studios film and Disney+ project for 2021 and beyond. Unfortunately, Ms. Marvel turns out to be in the latter category. Apparently, Kamala Khan’s live action appearance has been shoved back to next year in 2022.

Unfortunately, that’s about as specific as it gets. Variety makes no mention about exactly when in 2022 we will get to see Ms. Marvel. TVLine mentions an “early 2022” release date, but even that’s pretty vague, and entirely dependent on what Disney means by “early”. It could be anywhere from January to June or July, honestly. We will just have to wait for word from Disney and Marvel Studios later for a more precise release date.

Ms. Marvel: Details

Ms. Marvel logo.
Only the logo for now. No trailer yet, I’m afraid.

For those of you who somehow have no idea what I’m talking about, Ms. Marvel will be the Disney+ live action adaptation of Kamala Khan’s comic book adventures by Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker. The Disney+ version will star Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur will co-star alongside Vellani.

Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Loki) is the creator of the show, while also serving as the head writer. In addition, Sana Amanat herself will be an executive producer. It’s kind of difficult to mess up a character when one of her co-creators is on the job. Hopefully.

Conclusion

Disney and Marvel Studios have pushed back the release of Ms. Marvel to 2022. They don’t specify exactly when in 2022 other than “early 2022”, unfortunately. We will just have to wait for official word from Disney and/or Marvel Studios to find out exactly when we’ll get to see Kamala Khan in live action on Disney+ at a later date.
