Sam Wilson fans, it’s official. We’re getting what we deserve: an Anthony Mackie Captain America movie.

Since Chris Evan’s Steve Rogers passed Sam his shield in Avengers: End Game, Marvel fans have clamored to see Mackie pick up the Captain American mantle. And though Sam first avoided it, the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ultimately saw him embrace the shield and title.

Now, Deadline has officially confirmed Mackie has closed the deal to star in the feature film Captain America 4.

At this time, we don’t have any additional details about the movie. It’s still in the early stages, with a script being worked on by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. (They’re the creator/head writer and series staff writer, respectively, of Falcon and Winter Soldier. So, they’ve already written for Mackie as Captain America.) Captain America 4 doesn’t have a director or a targeted release date yet.

Also, no word yet on if the movie will also feature Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes.

So, are you excited to hear we’re getting more of Sam Wilson as Captain America? Let us know in the comments what you want to see in Captain America 4.

Meanwhile, check back to THS for more updates on this movie and other Marvel projects.
