Sorry, Darcy fans. Kat Dennings’ Thor character probably won’t make an appearance in Love & Thunder.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dennings herself said no one had contacted her about joining the film.
“I don’t think I’m in it. I feel like I would have heard by now. So literally my answer is I have no idea, I have even less an idea than I had before,” said Dennings.
Darcy was a fairly significant character in the first Thor movie. She returned in the sequel, Thor: Dark World, but did not appear in the third installment, Ragnarok.
However, Dennings said she’s excited to see former co-star Natalie Portman pick up the Thor mantle in the new movie.
“I thought it was genius. The most genius thing I’ve ever heard. I think it’s so brilliant. She’s a rockstar actor and she can do anything. I’m just so excited, as a fan. I’m just excited to watch it,” said Dennings.
And although Dennings may not appear in Love & Thunder, she’s staying in the MCU family. She will appear in the Disney+ series WandaVision. Though COVID delayed the Marvel film slate, WandaVision still plans to premiere by the end of the year.
When asked if she thought Darcy’s role in WandaVision could help transition her character to the Thor sequel, Dennings said she wouldn’t rule it out.
“I don’t know. I think anything in Marvel is possible. Once you’re in the MCU, I mean, you’re in it. They can do whatever they want. I don’t have any idea what it could be but I’m sure they could figure it out if they wanted to,” Dennings said.
