Disney has just released a new poster for their latest Mickey Mouse series. Apparently, The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse‘s art style will be one big nostalgia trip for anyone who remembers the original Mickey Mouse back in the 1920’s.

Looks like Steamboat Willie decided to get an upgrade.

Aside from that, we’ve also got some launch details. The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse will debut on Disney+ on November 18. Coincidentally, or perhaps not, that day is also the day Steamboat Willie debuted in US theaters. Since this is Mickey’s first film appearance, that day is effectively his birthday.

There’s no school like old school.

Sheriff Mickey too?

As you can see, it appears that Mickey decided to upgrade to something better than a steamboat for The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. Granted, it appears to be a 1950’s style car, but it might be the appropriate thing to go on a road trip. Especially since his girlfriend/wife and all his friends are apparently coming with him as well.

As further commemoration of Mickey’s humble origins, The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse will also be a series of animated shorts. The debut date on Wednesday, November 18 will start with a single short. After that though, two new shorts will debut every Friday for five weeks starting on November 27. Apparently, Disney plans to release a total of ten shorts in 2020, with another ten shorts coming in Summer 2021.

Not only that, but all the old voice actors for the different characters will voice their respective roles in The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. The only exception will be Russi Taylor, the voice behind Minnie Mouse, who sadly passed away in 2019. Disney really appears to be pulling out all the stops for these shorts.

Conclusion

Disney just released a new poster for The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, presumably to attract some hype for their new Disney+ series. Or perhaps miniseries would be more appropriate for this collection of shorts? In any case, if you have a hankering for the old style of Mickey Mouse back in the 1920’s and 30’s, this might be the show for you. In terms of visual style, that is. Can’t say what the actual content will be like until we get to see it on November 18, 2020.
