Attention Whovians! We’ve got your first look at this year’s upcoming holiday special, “Revolution of the Daleks.”

Stars Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill, and Bradley Walsh participated in a New York Comic Con panel today. The panel debuted first-look images at the next Doctor Who special, as well as a little tease about what we can expect from the plot.

Series 12 finished up with the Judoon collecting Whittaker’s Doctor and sending her to some sort of space prison. Our first image confirms the Doctor is indeed incarcerated during “Revolution of the Daleks.”

Those tally marks seem a little ominous too. Did the Doctor make them?

“I may have been there a while,” Whittaker joked.

Meanwhile, our other preview image shows the Doctor’s companions, Ryan (Tosin Cole), Graham (Walsh), and Yaz (Gill).

Long-time Doctor Who fans won’t be surprised to learn plot details about the upcoming special are largely being kept under wraps. However, we did learn a little more from the NYCC panel.

Apparently, the episode will see the Doctor’s companions face off against a Dalek on Earth – all while the Doctor herself is locked up. Gill described the central conflict of the special:

“How are we going to fight a Dalek without a Doctor?”

A premiere date for “Revolution of the Daleks” has not yet been set. However, the panel confirmed it would air this holiday season. The most recent special in the Whittaker era aired on New Years Day, while Doctor Who holiday specials in the past have aired on Christmas Day.

The cast also confirmed they are making preparations to hopefully resume production on series 13 before the end of the year.
