Conan the Barbarian is coming to your streaming screens at Netflix. In a massive deal, it’s not just for this one project apparently. Deadline had the exclusive on this one and they’re reporting that Netflix is getting exclusive access and option rights to the entire Conan literary library. It adds to their overall strategy of acquiring notable film, literary, and television properties to add to their own expanding universe of content.

There is no comment on a writer or a showrunner for the series yet. But it will be produced at Netflix. The character of Conan was created by Robert E. Howard in 1932. Since then we’ve had the character most famously played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in two films. Conan the Barbarian (1982) and Conan the Destroyer (1984) both launched Arnold into the stratosphere of stardom. Jason Momoa also played Conan in the 2011 film, Conan the Barbarian.

There have been other smaller scale Conan television shows like the animated series Conan the Adventurer and Conan and the Young Warriors from the 90’s.

Amazon, at one point, had the rights to make a Conan show, but that deal fell through. The show never made it to production.

Who do you think should play Conan in this new Netflix show? Let us know in the comments.
