Netflix just dropped the final trailer for Ratched, and it’s creepy and cringey in all the best ways.

The One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest prequel series tells the origin story of the infamous Nurse Ratched. But are real monsters born…or created?

“The doctors and nurses here..they want to give you hope that one day you can leave here. But you deserve someone to show you mercy,” Sarah Paulson’s Nurse Ratched says in the trailer. “How different I would be if someone had.”

Watch the final trailer for the series below. (And try not to cringe when they start aiming metal rods at eye sockets – I dare you.)

The final trailer continues to showcase a sharp contrast between bright and colorful visuals and a seriously dark tone. Now more than ever, we get a look inside Nurse Ratched’s mind – and it looks like it’s going to be a conflicted and dangerous place.

The series comes from American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy. The story picks up in 1947 when Mildred Ratched takes a job at a leading psychiatric hospital. She presents herself as a model nurse. But as the hospital’s unsettling experiments increase, more and more of her inner darkness is revealed.

Sarah Paulson as Nurse Ratched

In addition to Paulson in the title role, the cast includes Cynthia Nixon as Gwendolyn Briggs, Judy Davis as Nurse Betsy Bucket, Sharon Stone as Lenore Osgood. Jon Jon Briones, Finn Wittrock, Charlie Carver, Alice Englert, Amanda Plummer, Corey Stoll, Sophie Okonedo, and Vincent D’Onofrio also star.

Ratched hits Netflix September 18.
