The latest movie in the Bill & Ted franchise is rated PG-13 for language according to MPAA. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and its sequel Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991) both received PG ratings. This change in ratings is most likely due to a shift in the culture and what is now deemed as appropriate for particular audiences.
In fact, most Marvel movies are rated PG-13, but a heavy portion of the fanbase is children under the age. It is no surprise to see this decision being made. And in reality, Bill & Ted fans most likely grew up with the original movies and are far much older than the suggested viewing age. So the PG-13 rating shouldn’t be anything to fret.
