Speculation over what will happen in the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian has run rampant. Chief among the rumors is that Ahsoka Tano, who just completed the heartbreaking finale of The Clone Wars, will appear in live action. Then there are, of course, the allegedly leaked Season 2 Chapter titles. It’s a recent post on Reddit, however, that may confirm something Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito said back in February…. We’ll see another lightsaber in Season 2.

Star Wars is kown for some amazing lightsaber duels. When speaking at FanExpo Vancouver back in February, Esposito claimed that The Mandalorian Season 2 would feature “epic lightsaber action.” If what thenerdinator shows us on Reddit is authentic, we may very well see at least one other Jedi-weapon wielder appear in Season 2.

Crew Gift seems to confirm another lightsaber wielder in The Mandalorian

The focal point of the crew patch is none of than the Mandalorian’s signet, the mud horn. It’s what’s behind it that is raising eyebrows, however. Two blades cross, one being that of the Darksaber. The other saber hilt, despite speculation, remains unknown. But there’s no questioning the fact that it is a lightsaber. So who’s is it?

There are a few possibilities. When we first talked about this subject of another lightsaber in The Mandalorian, we thought perhaps Luke Skywalker could make an appearance. (Sebastian Stan; paging Sebastian Stan….) Rosario Dawson as Ahoska Tano now seems the more likely bet. But…. Other Jedi did survive Order 66. For example, Jedi like Star Wars Rebels’ Kanan Jarrus escaped the massacre (though Kanan perished long before the events of The Mandalorian.) Sure the lightsaber could be Ahsoka’s… but what if another, surviving Jedi makes an appearance, too?

Favreau, together with Dave Filoni, isn’t shy about incorporating elements of from other parts of the franchise. Could you image if someone like Quinlan Vos, hiding out in the Outer Rim, comes out from the shadows to clash with Moff Gideon?

We’ll have to wait until October to find out who wields the lightsaber featured in the crew gift. In the meantime, check out Disney Gallery ~ Star Wars: The Mandalorian. It airs Fridays on Disney+.
