Otis vs. Dolph Ziggler

Wrestlemania

The hype package already makes this one feel more important than it is. It’s a silly and fun storyline with more build than a lot of the matches on the card. This is the soap opera part of Wrestling that I truly love. Dolph comes out with Sonya Deville. Otis comes out firing as Dolph runs away from him. The beginning of the match would be all about Otis getting some shots in on Ziggler. Ziggler uses his speed to get away from Otis. On the outside Otis goes flying into the ringpost. The action gets back in the ring and Ziggler takes control. He can barely get a chin lock applied to the massive Otis.

Ziggler goes from a neckbreaker to a standing elbow drop. Dolph locks in another chin lock as Otis breaks down. Dolph gets caught though, and Otis slingshots him into the turnbuckle. Both men are down. Otis gets pumped up as Ziggler’s strikes do nothing to him. Otis lays out Ziggler with some clotheslines and a big body slam. He continues his punishment of Ziggler and set up the Caterpillar. Sonya distracts the ref and Dolph low blows Otis. When it looks like Ziggler is going to take back control, Mandy Rose heads to the ring. She takes out Sonya Deville and low blows Ziggler with the ref distracted. Otis hits the Caterpillar for the three count and celebrates with Mandy.

Wrestlemania 36: Analysis and Grade

This was another fun but unspectacular match. Otis looked like a beast taking out Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler did his job selling. The whole dynamic with Sonya Deville and Mandy should be interesting to go forward. Sonya is great in the ring and they might be able to put on some great matches with each other. Seeing Otis celebrate was a great payoff for the whole storyline. It’ll be strange to see where they go with that relationship also. Fun, but not great.

Grade: 7/10
