Disney certainly knows how to put on a show. First, the company kicked off its D3 Expo 2019 panel today with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker footage. Then there was no shortage of news from its Marvel subsidiary. (We finally got to see the full cast for Eternals, and learned the premier date for Black Panther II.) But… this was a Disney event, after all. The panel concluded with an extensive look at Frozen II.
Though it seems counterintuitive, sequels to animated Disney films are relatively rare. (That is, unless you count direct-to-home-video offerings.) Frozen Ii, to the contrary, will likely be one of the most anticipated sequels in the last couple of decades. Thanks to the panel, we now know a lot more about the upcoming film.
Frozen II presentation doesn’t disappoint
The entire cast was on hand to talk about the film, including a couple of new additions. It seems we may finally get some answers about Elsa’s past. Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) will voice Elsa and Ana’s mother for Frozen II. Joining her in lending voice to new characters is Sterling K. Brown. He’ll portray an officer stuck in an enchanted forest.
All in all Disney showed over twelve minutes of footage from the film, enthralling the audience in attendance. The highlights, however, were the cast performing live on stage and the reveal of the all new song “Into the Unknown”.
According to Disney execs in attendance, Frozen and Frozen II, together, will tell Elsa’s complete story. Hopefully that means fans will finally learn just how Elsa came to have her powers…. And how she’ll use them going forward.
