German actor, DJ, and comedian Flula Borg has officially joined the cast of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
Deadline broke the news first. There were no significant details revealed about Borg’s character. However, they did declare “we hear he’s playing a love interest to one of the characters in the Warner Bros. release.”
James Gunn was already writing the half-sequel/half-relaunch of the Suicide Squad franchise before Warner Bros. decided to snag him to direct as well.
Borg is the latest addition to the project. He joins other new cast members Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, and Daniela Melchior. Meanwhile, Viola Davis, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman will all return to reprise their roles.
Many will recognize Borg from his appearances in Pitch Perfect 2 and Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip. However, before he jumped into film he made a name for himself with his digital content.
His YouTube channel launched in 2007. Sometimes known as simply Flula, Borg has created over 350 videos and has amassed over 778,000 subscribers. He is also a frequent guest on Conan. He served as Conan O’Brien’s unofficial guide when the show headed to Berlin for a week.
The Suicide Squad will debut in theaters on August 6, 2021.
