3. “The Wrong Jedi” (Season 5)

The Clone Wars Season 5 conclusion was one of the most gut-wrenching episodes of the entire series. Ahsoka Tano finds herself on trial for bombing the Jedi temple. Falsely accused, she relies on Padme Amidala to defend her while Anakin desperately searches for the real culprit. That turns out to be Ahsoka’s fellow padawan and best friend, Baris Offee. The tribunal clears Ahoska of the charges, but the damage is done. Ahsoka becomes disillusioned with the Jedi Order, and disappointed by their failure to support her innocence. She leaves the Order, and Anakin, behind. Ahsoka’s leaving weighs heavily in Anakin Skywalker’s eventual fall from grace.

2. “The Lawless” (Season 5)

Maul, in an attempt to finally exact his revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi, draws the Jedi Master to Mandalore. Obi-Wan attempts to not only to free Mandalore from Maul’s evil, but also to free the Dutchess Satine. Yes, Maul had discovered Obi-Wan’s one true weakness – Obi-Wan’s love for Satine. Heartbroken by her brutal murder before his eyes, Obi-Wan must rely on Satine’s sister, Bo-Katan, for rescue. Emotionally enthralling as Obi-Wan’s story arc in this episode was, Maul’s arc was equally engrossing. Maul hadn’t factored on Darth Sidious intervening in his plans. The Sith Lord viciously murders Savage Opress and humiliates Maul by not killing him. Sidious had other plans for Maul – we learned of those plans with Maul’s appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story. It’s hard not to re-watch this action-packed an emotional episode over and over.
