Any film character who gets their very own poster is guaranteed to play a very significant role in that film. This is why Goose The Cat will probably save us all.

Goose The Cat as The Savior Of The Universe (I Think)

The newest Marvel movie, Captain Marvel, dropped a grand total of TEN character posters and fans were delightfully surprised to see the MCU’s newest feline hero get his due. (I, for one, would love to see Black Panther and Goose team up.)

Good on Marvel for understanding that the internet has never met a cat that it didn’t love, but it also begs the question, what role Goose will be playing in the film?

[Warning: Small, possible spoiler ahead.]

It is unconfirmed as of yet if Goose The Cat is actually just a cat, or if he’s a Flerken, like his comic-book counterpart. In the comics, Carol Danvers has an orange tabby named Chewie that turns out to be a Flerken, a member of an alien race that happen to look like Earth cats. Knowing Marvel and their penchant for dropping pop culture references and deep cut Easter eggs, Goose The Cat looks like a two-for-one homage to both the film Top Gun and the source material.

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson

A few other surprises were to be found in the human character posters such as the realization that Captain Marvel will be reuniting Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) on the big screen for the first time since 2012’s The Avengers. Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s which means we’ll get to see the two future S.H.I.E.L.D. Directors “avenge about” as their younger selves. (Fury has two eyes! Coulson has a firm hairline! Crazy!)

Djimon Hounsou as Korath

Also of note is Korath who’s played by Djimon Hounsou. He gets a poster but Ronan (Lee Pace) doesn’t? That seems a little odd considering Korath was just a minion of Ronan who, if you don’t remember, was the main villain in the first Guardians Of The Galaxy film.

Annette Benning as ???

And of course, still no clues as to who Annette Benning will be playing and frankly, I don’t care. I’d watch Annette Benning read a Terms and Conditions agreement, While Goose The Cat slaps the [REDACTED] out of Thanos.

Check out the rest of the character posters below and remember that Captain Marvel will debut in theaters March 8, 2019.
