Cassian Andor Returns
With Disney announcing that they were going to slow down on Star Wars movies, many fans were left wondering what was next. Well, in a surprise announcement today from Disney we got that answer. Today Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced that Lucasfilm is in development of their next Disney+ live-action series. This series which will go into production next year and will tell the story of the rebel spy Cassian Andor through the rise of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. According to starwars.com Diego Luna will reprise his role of Andor. Here is what Luna had to say about his return:
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
Star Wars lineup growing
This news makes second Star Wars series that will be included in Disney+. Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian was confirmed earlier this year for the streaming service. Iger also announced that Disney would be developing multiple Star Wars TV series for the Disney+ that will be launching in 2019.
So now we have two live-action series to look forward to. We still don’t know a lot about either series. But, its enough to get Star Wars fans excited for new content.
