Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson has been making the press rounds for her latest role in the independent film Little Woods. While doing an interview with the Los Angeles Times, questions of course turned back to her future as the character Valkyrie in the MCU.
As soon as Marvel released the 32-character Avengers: Endgame posters, fans quickly noted that Valkyrie was included despite not being in Infinity War. This begs the question: is Valkyrie in Endgame? Thompson unsurprisingly could neither confirm nor deny whether her Thor character was in the movie. However, she gave us a quote hinting at a possible future film in Phase 4 of the MCU:
“I heard that a pitch has happened for [another “Thor” film]… don’t know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika [Waititi, who directed ‘Ragnarok’] would come back.”

Is this the (Thor) Asgardians of the Galaxy movie we’ve been hoping for?
Taika Waititi, who both directed Thor: Ragnarok and also played Korg in the movie, appears to be well liked by Disney execs. After two very disappointing Thor movies Waititi turned Ragnarok into a box office smash, bringing in over $820 million worldwide. He is now working on the new Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
A Thor 4 movie is far from a sure thing. But based on what we know already about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Endgame, it isn’t exactly far-fetched. Hopefully a Thor 4 movie would once again re-team Thor, Valkyrie, Hulk and Loki. However, they would all have to still be part of the MCU after Endgame for that to happen.
A fourth outing for Thor raises the question would it even be Chris Hemsworth continuing to carry the mantle…or in this case the hammer…as Thor. In the comic books Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman in the MCU, had her turn as Earth’s mightiest hero.
If we do get a Thor 4 I hope we get to see Beta Ray Bill and Man-Thing. If you don’t remember, both of their faces were depicted on the Grandmaster’s tower on Sakaar.
