Marvel Studios has long since hinted that its cinematic universe will be a whole new world after Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th. Kevin Feige further clarified that changing landscape in a recent interview.

While fans are certainly expecting a crop of new heroes to rise, the producer teased that “some of these films will feature characters that you already know.”

Even familiar characters, however, won’t always lead to familiar territory. He added, “some supporting characters will assume leading roles, while some new characters will be introduced.”

But why does Feige think Disney+ is necessary for true believers in Phase Four? Let’s find out together:

Disney+ Will Be An MCU Expansion Pack

One big change actually involves the world of Marvel television shows. New Disney+ content will actually tie in with the MCU. That’s a departure from the status quo. Marvel television thus far, like the previous Netflix shows, remains entirely separate . “These episodes will intersect with the movies in a very big way,” Feige explained. “It’s a totally new form of storytelling that we get to play with and explore.”

At the Disney+ presentation last week, the visionary executive made the new streaming shows sound like mandatory viewing. Feige declared that “they will change and evolve characters as well as introduce new ones.”

He also dropped another little nugget: “Post-Endgame MCU will be very different.” It was to be expected. Notwithstanding, it looks like we’ll need to subscribe to the new service to learn just how different:

The reward for all of these films working is that we get to try to do it again and do it differently and learn from our mistakes and try something we haven’t tried before,” said Feige.

So Many Shows, So Little Time

As we have previously reported, Disney+ will be bringing to life several shows starring Marvel characters, including WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The live action stories will star the actors that already inhabited the roles in the MCU. So, fans can look forward to watching plenty of hours’ worth of Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen content. Not only that, but the animated What If? series will also feature the film actors as the voices of the characters onscreen. (What If? follows the comic series that images AU Marvel scenarios.)

The first What If? scenario centers Peggy Carter as Captain America and a pre-transformation Steve Rogers as Iron Man during World War II, but there are many more exciting timelines to come.

Marvel Movies on Disney+

While it would be unimaginable to get the biggest box office hits straight to your streaming service while they’re still in theaters, it’s almost as impossible to believe what’s really going to happen.

As soon as Disney movies finish their theatrical runs, they’ll immediately become available on Disney+. So no one will have to wait months to rewatch Shang Chi on Blu-Ray or DVD anymore. That doesn’t explain what will happen with special features, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they start making appearances on the service as well.

Disney+ launches on November 12th, 2019 at $6.99 a month or $69.99 for the whole year. Will you be getting it? Let us know in the comments below, and check That Hashtag Show for all the latest news on your favorite Marvel films.
