The upcoming second season of Blue Eye Samurai is one of Netflix’s most hotly anticipated shows. It’s not surprising, really. The first season and its eight episodes have received critical acclaim. Those critics have collectively given that first season a whopping 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Renowned video game developer Hideo Kojima himself has praised the series as the “best anime of the year”. With that kind of acclaim, it’s no wonder why so many people are looking forward to that second season’s 2026 release window.
It’s that same anticipation that’s making any news of that second season be getting so much attention. This is especially true when it’s about a major new addition to its cast. What’s On Netflix has just revealed that Freddie Fox has joined the cast of Blue Eye Samurai season 2 as the Poet. We have no info on just who this “Poet” is. Is he friend? Is he foe? Alas, we just don’t know yet. We just have to wait for Netflix to give us that info at a later date.
Freddie Fox as the Poet Added to Voice Cast of Blue Eye Samurai Season 2

Alas, the lack of any info on the Poet leaves us no option but to focus on the actor himself: Freddie Fox. All we know is that Fox has had some very notable roles in video games. His voice roles have been in Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 in unnamed voice roles and in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as Corvin. Most of his other roles have been in live-action, which isn’t quite helpful in telling how well he’ll do in voice acting. However, he has been in a whole bunch of radio dramas, including The Knights of the Apocalypse and The Quanderhorn Xperimentations. With that kind of record, I think we can be quite confident that he will do well in Blue Eye Samurai season 2.
What do you all think? Are you excited for the next season of Blue Eye Samurai? What do you all think Freddie Fox’s character will be like? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
