Big news out of Camp Half-Blood. Disney+ just announced a season 3 renewal for Percy Jackson and the Olympians!
The additional season order comes early, as season 2 of the series has yet to premiere. The next installment of PJO won’t arrive until December this year.
“From the moment ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “With season two set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination.”
Continuing with the production pattern of the first two seasons, season 3 of Percy Jackson will adapt author Rick Riordan’s third book in the series, The Titan’s Curse. Although the first two books previously received feature film adaptations, The Titan’s Curse has yet to make the jump to screen. So, fans of Riordan’s series will get to see some of their favorite characters come to life for the first time.
“We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time,” said Riordan. “It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”
The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians proved a smash hit for Disney+, earning praise from audiences and critics alike. The series received over 13 million views within the first week of its premiere, making it one of the top 5 most-watched original shows on streaming in 2023.
Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is currently in production. It will premiere in December. Until then, you can head over to Disney+ to re-watch season 1.
