Natsuko goes on a bit of a trip in Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE”. It’s a trip to what’s basically the Last Town’s red light district for some mostly non-sketchy business. Actually pretty wholesome, really. However, she also goes on a bit of an ego trip due to overconfidence. Hopefully, this doesn’t come back to bite her in the next episode. If she gets out of this unscathed, that is.
Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE”: Details
Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE” is the fifth episode (you can read my reviews for Ep. 1, Ep. 2, Ep. 3, and Ep. 4 here) of this isekai fantasy anime series. Said anime series is not the anime adaptation of any manga, but rather, it is its own original anime. MAPPA (Zombie Land Saga, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man) is the animation studio behind this anime series. Crunchyroll is the company licensing this anime for its global release.
Production Cast
Shinji Imada is the director and storyboarder behind Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE”, with Kimiko Ueno as the writer, and Kayoko Ishikawa, Yuka Kudou, and Chen Weining all claiming credit as chief animation directors. As for Zenshu as a whole, we do still know that Mitsue Yamazaki is the director, with Kimiko Ueno as the script writer. Yoshiteru Tsujino is responsible for character design and world setting, with Kayoko Ishikawa also doing character design while also being the chief animation director alongside Etsuko Sumimoto, Kazuko Hayakawa, and Shuji Takahara. Sumie Noro is the assistant director, with Akio Shimada as the art director, Ayako Suenaga as the color designer, Kenta Fujita as the director of photography, Mutsumi Takemiya as the editor, Yukari Hashimoto as the composer, dugout as the sound producer, Makoto Tanimura (Sound Wing) as the casting manager, and Takahiro Ogawa as the animation producer.
Now as for that music: the opening theme song for Zenshu is “Zen” by Band-Maid. Meanwhile, “Tada, Kimo no Mama de” by Sou is the ending theme song.

Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE” made its its streaming and airing (aka. simulcast) debut on February 2, 2025. You can watch this episode only on Crunchyroll. In fact, you can watch this entire anime only on Crunchyroll due to it being an exclusive there.
Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE”: Synopsis
Alas, Zenshu only recently made its premiere. In fact, Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE” only just made its debut two days ago as of this writing. Thus, you will all get the official synopsis of this anime from Crunchyroll rather than a spoiler-filled plot summary. Here’s that synopsis below:
Destiny asks the Nine Soldiers to bring food to some orphans and they run into a former Nine Soldier, Justice.
Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE”: The Good
There’s really no doubt about it that it’s the story of Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE” is what makes it such a treat to watch. First off, the worldbuilding for the Last Town just keeps getting more and more in-depth, with our current exploration taking place in the town’s red light district. Funnily enough, this is a place that Natsuko or any in-universe viewers of A Tale of Perishing have never seen before, and for understandable reasons. After all, the sight of prostitutes, drunkards, and orphaned street kids everywhere would drive the age rating up to an unacceptable level. Thus, it makes the world of that in-universe anime film even darker than it already is.
Not only that, but Natsuko herself gets quite a bit of character development here too. Or rather, character regression. No spoilers, but her ego expands to some unreasonable levels here. You can fully understand why she does so, but in battles of life and death, that could easily get herself and others killed. We’re going to have to see in the next episode just how bad it gets.
Oh, and don’t forget the introduction of another one of the Nine Soldiers: Justice. No spoilers, but they seem to get along quite well with Natsuko due to the both of them being adults. Possibly even to romance levels? Welp, it’s worth a ship.
Lastly, the animation remains as stunningly high quality as always. MAPPA’s animation team continue to do a great job with that animation, especially during the fight scenes. The sight of Natsuko’s sketch-like animated characters pulling off the most awesome attacks are all nice treats to enjoy, even if they last only a few seconds each.
Zenshu Ep. 5 “JUSTICE”: The Bad
Weirdly enough, this episode is a perfect balance between action and slice of life comedy. Hard to argue with that balance. However, if you don’t like isekai anime in general, then this episode still isn’t quite for you due to those tropes still being used heavily here. If you want a non-isekai anime to enjoy, then might I recommend watching Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, Kaiju No. 8, DDDD, DAN DA DAN, and/or Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II? Those are all not isekai anime that are still amazing to watch, and will satisfy your action cravings to boot.
Tune back in to THS to find out more about Zenshu and other anime when we do.
