However, it’s now the reboot anime everyone is looking forward to. Not least of which: the fans who were fans of the original anime adaptation from Imagin (for season 1), and the duo of Brain Base and Marvy Jack (for season 2) all the way back in 2008. Heck, if you were a fan of the even more original light novel series by Isuna Hasekura, then you were waiting for this for even longer.

TOHO animation has just posted this new trailer for Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf on YouTube. The highlight of this trailer is both the new scenes teasing more of the story’s plot…and of course, a teaser of the opening and ending theme music. The former turns out to be “Journey’s Destination” (旅のゆくえ) by Hana Hope. The singer will recall memories of Akino Arai, who sang the opening theme songs for both seasons of the original Spice and Wolf anime. They have that calm and relaxing voice to them, which is perfect for this economic adventure, as well as the song’s title.
As for the ending theme song for Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf? That would be “Andante” (アンダンテ) by ClariS. What is “andante”, you might ask? Well, that turns out to be an adverb or adjective describing a music piece that’s being performed at a moderate, slow tempo. That too is perfect not only for the song, but also for Lawrence and Holo’s journey across the land.
Fortunately, it won’t be long before we can see this journey for ourselves. Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf will make its airing and streaming debut on April 1, 2024. That’s just over a week away at the time of this writing, so you won’t have long to wait at all. You can watch this debut only on Crunchyroll.
