It seems like Disney is really getting into the live-action film business. Aladdin just recently released and the live-action Lion King is out in theaters on July 19th. Now it seems another one of the classic princess tales in Snow White is getting the live-action treatment. And the director of The Amazing Spider-Man could be directing it.
Per a report by Variety, The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb is Disney’s top choice to direct the live-action version of Snow White. And this version will expand upon the 1938 animated version of the film.
Snow White Comes to Live-Action
Erin Cressida Wilson, the screenwriter for The Girl On The Train, is in negotiations to pen the script. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who have done music for Dear Evan Hanson, La La Land, and The Greatest Showman, will be writing new songs for the film. And Marc Platt is on board to produce the film.
It definitely seems like this film will be different from the two most recent versions of the film. Those versions include the 2012 film Mirror Mirror, and Universal’s darker version Snow White And The Huntsman (starring Avengers: Endgame’s Chris Hemsworth).
What will be interesting to see where this film will end up. It’s either going on to Disney’s streaming service or getting released into theaters.
It is unknown when this will start filming or be released. But, it could be released in the next few years. And it could release with Disney’s live-action version of Lilo And Stitch.
It’s too soon to tell how the film will stack up to the original but hopefully, it does the animated feature justice. Stay tuned here to That Hashtag Show for all your Snow White and trending geek pop culture news!
