Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is truly a historic moment in the media franchise. This franchise started out as a 6-volume series of graphic novels simply titled Scott Prilgrim by Cryan Lee O’Malley. Then over the years it gained several adaptations. This includes a highly successful live-action film in the form of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, an animated short, a video game, and even a mobile comic. Honestly, it feels like this anime adaptation is the logical next step for the franchise, and one that we’ve been waiting for quite a while now. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Official Trailer: Details
Netflix showed off that new official trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off at NYCC 2023 and on YouTube. As you can see, this official trailer shows off some pretty bonkers animation by Science SARU (Space Dandy, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Star Wars: Visions), who is also one of the production companies alongside Marc Platt Productions, Not Penny’s Boat, Complete Fiction, and Universal Content Productions (UCP). It looks like they’re going all out for this anime, while having an animation style that’s right out of the graphic novels. Complete with 16-bit art in places to boot. You can’t get any more faithful than that, to be honest.
Even better, this official trailer gives us a clue as to when we’re going to get to see this anime. The end of that trailer reveals that Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will make its debut on November 17, 2023. As you can guess though, this will be a Netflix exclusive. Thus, you will need a paid subscription to watch this anime adaptation of one of the best graphic novels in existence.
