Billie Eilish is the latest superstar to be added to Barbie The Album, making her one of the two unannounced acts to appear on the soundtrack.
Taking to Instagram, the “Happier Than Ever” hitmaker revealed the song title, “What Was I Made For?”, and that it will drop on July 13 at 7 am PT.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! 🧸🎀🩰💗“What Was I Made For?” COMING OUT JULY 13TH AT 7AM PT. !!!!!!!! 🙈🥰,” she expressed with excitement in her caption.
“WE MADE THIS SONG FOR BARBIE AND IT MEANS THE ABSOLUTE WORRRRLLLD TO ME. THIS MOVIE IS GONNA CHANGE UR LIVES AND HOPEFULLY THE SONG WILL TOO. GET READY TO SOB💐👀🌸🥹🫧💞,” Eilish continued. She also tagged her producer brother, Finneas, who is also a part of the song.
In just 30 minutes, Eilish’s post racked up more than 750,000 likes and over 13,700 comments, proving to be instantly popular with her 109 million followers.
Unsurprisingly, Eilish’s fans freaked out in the comments section over the unexpected, exciting news.
“BRO IMMA BE IN SUMMER CAMP WHEN THIS COMES OUT AND CRY IN FRONT OF EVERY TEENS WHOS GONNA MAKE FUN OF ME BUT IDFC,” one fan wrote.
“When Billie says “get ready to sob” THEN U SHOULD GET READY,” another person shared.
“Just when I thought the Barbie film couldn’t get any better,” a third fan remarked.
Who else is on the Barbie soundtrack?
In addition to Billie Eilish, the Barbie movie soundtrack is STACKED with other major stars.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard songs from Dua Lipa (“Dance The Night”), PinkPantheress (“Angel”), Karol G (“WATITI”), and Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice (“Barbie World”). The most recent release was from British singer Charli XCX with “Speed Drive.” The playful track sampled Robyn’s “Cobrastyle” and borrowed lyrics from Toni Basil’s “Mickey.”
But who else is making an appearance? Well, there’s Lizzo, HAIM, Tame Impala, Dominic Fike, Ryan Gosling, and Khalid, just to name a few.
On the Barbie The Album’s official store, a range of colored vinyl and cassettes are up for pre-order as well as a CD.
Just like the movie itself, Barbie The Album will be released on July 21.
