The X trilogy finds its conclusion with MaXXXine, the sequel to last year’s X and Pearl. X took place in the 70s, Pearl took place in 1918, and now MaXXXine is in the 80s.
Mia Goth returns to her star-making role of Maxine in the upcoming TI West-directed film. A24 has revealed the rest of the cast joining Goth, and it’s a nice collection of talent.
MaXXXine‘s cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon.
Here’s the official synopsis for MaXXXine.
“MaXXXine reverses the franchise’s trajectory through time to pick up with Maxine after the violent events of X, as the sole survivor continues her journey towards fame, setting out to make it as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.”
Production begins this month. There’s no release date currently.

Mia Goth talked about the upcoming film with Variety and had high praise for the script.
“It’s the best script of the three by far, it’s going be the best movie of the three. It’s the biggest story of the three with the highest stakes and Maxine has gone through so much at this point. So when we find her in this new world, she’s just a force to be reckoned with and she goes through some pretty wild adventures.”
