Recent casting news has confirmed that actress Michelle Yeoh will appear as Dr. Karina Mogue in James Cameron’s next two Avatar sequels. Originally envisioning a trilogy, Cameron has stated that his franchise will now be made up of 5 films. He came to the decision after much consideration and discussion with his cast and crew. As of today Avatar 2 will premiere on December 18, 2020, followed by Avatar 3 on December 17, 2021. Avatar 4 won’t come along until December 20, 2024. After that, Avatar 5 will conclude the epic story on December 19, 2025.
Michelle Yeoh Joins Cast of Avatar
Once more James Cameron will transport us among the Na’vi and have us travel to Pandora. The next Avatar film is currently in post-production, according to IMDB. Cameron has been furiously working on his long-awaited sequels to the biggest box office movie in history since it’s 2009 original release. Michelle Yeoh will join the already impressive cast of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, CCH Pounder, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Matt Gerald. Also part of the cast will be Cameron alumn Kate Winslet.
It was previously reported that Michelle Yeoh is also set to star in a Star Trek: Discovery spinoff. That show will her character Federation Captain Philippa Georgiou. No premiere date has been announced for this series. Commenting on her return to this character Yeoh said:
Being a part of this universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can’t wait to see where it all goes — certainly I believe it will go ‘where no woman has ever gone before!’
