Surprise! Even before making any big announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel has a treat for fans today. The studio just announced Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Logan will start streaming on Disney+ tomorrow, July 22.

Deadpool and Logan were initially left out of Disney+’s launch because they were produced by then-20th Century Fox. (As a reminder, Fox had a licensing deal for X-Men characters.) However, following Disney’s acquisition of Marvel and later 20th Century, the character rights were reunited under the same corporate umbrella again.
Still, there was some debate as to what the merger would mean for streaming films like Deadpool. The R-rated flick doesn’t fit Disney’s initial “family-friendly” pitch for its Disney+ service. When the company acquired Hulu, some thought movies like Deadpool might end up there. But that strategy would awkwardly divide Marvel content across two different streaming platforms.
Instead, Disney ultimately decided to begin rolling out parental control options on Disney+, allowing the company to add more comfortably add R-rated content. So, beginning July 22, you can stream both Deadpool films and Hugh Jackman’s Logan on Disney+.
