It’s true! David Tennant and Catherin Tate are back filming scenes for Doctor Who. The two will reprise their roles as the 10th Doctor and Donna Noble which will likely coincide with the series’ 60th Anniversary.
Besides fan service, why is this a big deal you may ask? Well, The Doctor and Donna parted ways after the Doctor wiped her memories so she could forget him. He left with the warning that if she were to ever remember, she will die. Now, with the two coming face to face once more will this “prophecy” come true? Why risk bringing them together?
Check out this quote from showrunner, Russell T Davies about Tennant and Tate’s Return
“They’re back! [Tennant & Tate] And it looks impossible – first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what on earth is happening? Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime.”
This isn’t the first time Tennant has returned to the role for a Dr. Who anniversary. Previously, he reprised his role in 2013 joining Matt Smith for the 50th Anniversary.
This news comes one week after the official announcement that Sex Education star, Ncuti Gatwa will be taking up the help of the Doctor in 2023. Jodie Whittaker’s current incarnation of the Doctor will come to an end with one more special episode later this year.
