The last time we saw Kirby Reed was actually in a thumbnail of a YouTube video in 2022’s Scream. However, the last time she appeared in person was Scream 4. She was one of the survivors of that movie, but now according to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress is making a return. The latest sequel to Scream saw the return of its four new cast members for the 6th film in the franchise. Now with Kirby back, the old and new mix even more. Shooting for the film is set for this summer. It sees the survivors of the latest Woodsboro Massacre leave town and tries to start a new life.
Scream 4 saw Kirby as more of a side character that rose to the occasion and became a hero by the end of it. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick return to write the screenplay, while duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are in the directing chair. Other than the small plot blurb we got, it’s not known the extent of Panettiere’s role in the film. The 5th entry saw a new cast mix with the “legacy” cast of the first four films. Fans clamored for Kirby to make an appearance in the 5th movie, but now it looks like they’re getting their wish.
We’ll have to see when Scream 6 releases in theaters on March 21st, 2023. You can read our review of Scream, here.
