More than a decade after the premiere of Avatar, we’re actually getting pretty close to seeing a sequel film. And during CinemaCon, Avatar 2 revealed some key new details about the feature and its release. Here’s what the event unveiled about the feature.
Avatar 2 Official Title
First, Disney unveiled the official title of the film: Avatar: The Way of Water. The James Cameron feature will officially debut overseas on December 14. The US release will follow shortly after, on December 16.
Avatar 2 Trailer Release
Next, we got a release date for the official Avatar 2 trailer. Disney will pair it with the theatrical release of upcoming Marvel blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That film premieres next week on May 6. The Avatar: The Way of Water trailer will run exclusively in theaters for a week before dropping online.
Avatar Theatrical Re-Release
To celebrate the release of Avatar 2 (and to give everyone a much-needed reminder about what actually happens in the original film), the first Avatar movie will get a theatrical re-release. The original Cameron film will hit theaters worldwide this fall starting September 23.
About Avatar 2
