Fans of Star Wars: Visions and Star Wars anime in general, rejoice! For we finally have confirmation that we’re getting Star Wars: Visions 2! Even better, it’s apparently coming later this year.
More Star Wars Anime?!
Cinelinx has just come out with the news that Star Wars: Visions 2 is officially in the works at Lucasfilm and Disney. In fact, that second season had been in the works ever since the first season launched back on September 22, 2021. According to Cinelinx, multiple independent (but unnamed) sources reached out to them to confirm this bit of news.
Even better, those sources also confirm that Star Wars: Visions 2 will launch sometime in September or October 2022. Either way, it looks like we’re going to see a Fall 2022 release window for this second season of the only official Star Wars anime in existence. If that doesn’t get you excited as a Star Wars fan or as an anime fan, I don’t know what will.
One of Cinelinx’s sources is even “pretty confident” that Lucasfilm and Disney will officially unveil Star Wars: Visions 2 on May 4, 2022 for this year’s Star Wars Celebration. With some footage of the anime for us to boot. If that’s true, then we’re less than a month away before we get official word of this. However, even Cinelinx themselves feel a bit iffy on this bit of news. Mostly because “pretty confident” isn’t absolute certainty. Feel free to take it with a grain of salt if you like.
Star Wars: Visions 2 ~ Opinion
Unfortunately, this bit of news doesn’t come with any news on which episodes will get a sequel. Presumably, all of the episodes of Star Wars: Visions will get a continuation of the sequel on Disney+. Or at the very least, most of them will. Especially those episodes that left off on cliffhangers and/or sequel hooks instead of having self-contained storylines. Here’s my opinion on which ones desperately need sequels:
The ending of “The Twins” episode had a sense that the adventure to save Karre’s twin sister from the Dark Side of the Force had only just begun. Let’s hope that Star Wars: Visions 2 actually gives us an ending for Am. Complete with Studio Trigger’s insane animation style.
“Lop and Ochō” was one of the more interesting takes on the Star Wars universe, especially since the conflict wasn’t a purely good vs. evil fight. It seemed to be more of a tradition vs. modernization fight, with the locals representing the former, and the Empire representing the latter. It’s this morally grey conflict that makes this episode interesting, and I hope the sisters get a resolution to their conflict in Star Wars: Visions 2.
“The Ninth Jedi” completes this shortlist, due to the pretty interesting and complex plot behind it. Seriously, that plot twist where all of the “Jedi” were actually Sith infiltrating the gathering was a pretty good one. Hopefully, Star Wars: Visions 2 will expand on this plot of deception and intrigue, while also giving us a conclusion to Kara’s storyline to save her father.
