In a recent interview Mark Hamill said he wasn’t going to talk about The Last Jedi anymore. (Of course he then proceeded to talk about the film in the interview.) Well, he’s technically staying true to his word .His most recent tweet doesn’t take a shot at Episode VIII. No, this time the Hamill remarks jab at its predecessor, The Force Awakens.
The Luke Skywalker actor recently tweeted out a photo of himself with Harrison Ford (Han Solo). The pictures shows the two men embracing when Hamill was presented with his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hamill remarks of the photo: “What a Han/Luke reunion might have been like….”
Mark Hamill Remarks Still Full of Disappointment
The most recent Hamill remarks reflect those of the interview mentioned above in which he lamented the fact that Han, Leia and Luke would never reunite in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Some fans have criticized Hamill for speaking out about his own films in such a manner. The consensus, however, is that Hamill’s remarks about the Luke Skywalker character, and about The Last Jedi specifically, generally reflect the feelings of the fandom as a whole.
How the Skywalker saga will end remains to be seen. We’ve only just begun to get reports of footage from the film. As best as we can tell, Kylo Ren and his obsession with Darth Vader will remain central to the Star Wars: Episode IX storyline. Whether JJ Abrams will “redeem” what fans, and Hamill, felt was wrong with Luke Skywalker or not remains shrouded in mystery. As Yoda says, “Difficult to see. Always in motion the future.”
