In The Force Awakens, Rey informs Kylo Ren she’s learned his deepest fear. “You’re afraid… that you’ll never be as strong as Darth Vader!” That one line reminded us again of the long-standing debate over which Sith Lord was the most powerful in Star Wars. Was it Vader? Sidious? Plagueis? Or some other Sith Lord?

One suggestion has always been Darth Bane, responsible for the Sith “Rule of Two.” The Sith Lord Darth Bane had grown to be so popular in the old Expanded Universe (now “Legends”) that he was among the first characters to transcend from the EU into mainstream canon. He appeared late in Season Six of The Clone Wars, as Yoda traveled to the Sith home world of Korriban for more Force training. It turns out, however, that not even Bane considered himself the most powerful Sith Lord. That honor went to Darth Revan.

Darth Revan: A Sith Lord Revered

As Stupendous Wave sets out in the video below, Bane discovered a Sith holocron once belonging to Darth Revan. From it he learned far more courtesy of the ancient Sith Lord than anything he ever learned from the whole of the Sith Academy archives combined.

Disney and Lucasfilm have made a concerted effort to bring more Legends content back into cannon. There were even recent rumors that Darth Bane himself could be the central figure of a potential new series or film for Disney+. Notwithstanding, Darth Revan still seems to be the Sith Lord most fans want to see.

There are already multiple hints at Revan’s canon status sprinkled throughout the Star Wars franchise, from Star Wars Rebels to The Last Jedi. Could Game of Thrones show-runners Benioff and Wiess surprise us and focus their Star Wars trilogy of films on the Sith Lord? I know a lot of people who would love the chance to see Darth Revan on screen. How about you?
