All robberies aren’t the same. And frankly, some robbers are better at their job than others. The new Netflix feature Windfall tells the story of one of the not-so-confident ones.
It sounds like it could be a comedic premise, but Windfall is actually a dramatic thriller inspired by master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock. The story follows a wealthy couple (Jesse Plemons and Lily Collins) who arrive at their vacation home only to find it’s being robbed. Jason Segel plays the man robbing the home.
Check out the official trailer for Windfall below:
The clip shows tensions immediately building between the trio. Segel’s robber doesn’t seem particularly equipped for the job, but that somehow makes him all the more terrifying. And Plemons’ character seems to have a mysterious past and a dark streak that hints he may not be the true victim here. All in all, this one looks intense and intriguing.

Windfall comes from The One I Love director Charlie McDowell and writer Justin Lader. Andrew Kevin Walker, who wrote Se7en, also co-wrote the script.
Windfall premieres on Netflix March 18.
