[Pulls up in a convertible] Get in, loser. We’re going time-traveling.

Well, sort of.

Netflix’s upcoming comedy doesn’t feature time travel per say, but the lead character is stuck in 2002 in a way. In Senior Year, a high school cheerleader falls off a pyramid and into a 20 year coma. Now 37 and in 2022, she’s ready to return to high school, regain her status, and claim the prom queen crown that eluded her.

The woman in question will be played by none other than Rebel Wilson, who announced the movie on her Instagram account today.

“Got my butterfly clips and glitter, and I’m ready to head back to 2002! #SeniorYear premieres May 13 on @netflix,” Wilson captioned the post, which features an image of her in a convertible and a quick clip of her wearing a cheerleading outfit.

In addition to Wilson, the movie stars Alicia Silverstone, Justin Hartley, Angourie Rice, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Mary Holland, and Chris Parnell.

Senior Year comes from writers Andrew Knauer, Arthur Pielli, and Brandon Scott Jones. Alex Hardcastle (Parks and Rec, Grace and Frankie) directs. Wilson also produces the movie, alongside Todd Garner, Timothy M. Bourne, and Chris Bender.

Senior Year is like the wildly funny love child of Bring It On and Never Been Kissed. It will literally bring ‘cheer’ into your homes!” Wilson said in a statement from Netflix.

The movie premieres May 13, exclusively on Netflix.
