Steam announced today that their Steam Deck machine is officially launching on February 25th, 2022. The handheld console/computer is a first for Valve in their quest to make a “console”. For those who missed the opening pre-order period, new batches of the systems go out on a weekly cadence.
Here are some additional details from Steam on the Steam Deck:
- We will start sending invites shortly after 10:00 am on February 25th, PST
- Order emails are sent in the same order that reservations were made.
- You can only order the Steam Deck model that you originally reserved.
- Your reservation deposit will be applied to the final price of Steam Deck, and shipping costs are included.
Steam Deck could revolutionize the way people see handheld gaming. Similar to the Nintendo Switch, the new console from Valve is basically a portable computer. It can play the library of games on Steam, and also other programs. The system comes in three variations: 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Read more about the Steam Deck here.
