It is no secret Disney’s Encanto has taken the world by storm. With catchy music and a powerful message, what is there not to love? Although there is one song in particular that stands out from the rest. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is by far one of the catchiest songs from the whole movie. According to the Billboard 100, a lot of people will agree. In addition to not just reaching the top 100, it comes in as number four.
Climbing to the top
There have only been a few Disney songs to reach such a prestigious spot. Those being Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle’s song that his number 1 in 1993. Second is Elton John’s song from the Lion King “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” which came in at number 4 in 1994. Apart from those two we also have the iconic “Colors of The Wind” from Pocahontas which also ended up reaching number 4 in 1995.
As you can see, in the last 26 years no other Disney song has achieved a top 5 spot. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is also surpassing the Award-winning “Let it Go” song from Disney’s Frozen. Furthermore showing us how big Bruno is becoming since “Let it Go” is still pretty popular. The song is currently still climbing the charts digitally with over twenty-six million streams.
The song is now in 46 different languages, and although the title and meaning may change a little, the tune stays the same. Undoubtedly the credit goes to Lin Manuel Miranda who is responsible for composing such a masterpiece. Lin Manuel Miranda is famous for Hamilton, In the Heights, and working on Disney’s Moana. His songs have always been catchy with a unique style. They have a way of sticking in your head and making you sing them over and over again. I still annoy everyone with my rendition of “Aaron Burr, Sir”.
Congrats to the Encanto cast, to Lin-Manuel Miranda, to Disney, and of course to Bruno! If you want to see Encanto and sing along it is currently streaming on Disney+.
