It has been announced that there is a Weird Al Yankovic movie coming out soon. The biopic will tell the story of the legendary parody musician. From his shooting to fame with hits like “I Love Rocky Road” and “Ricky”, to his relationships and depraving lifestyle. But the biggest announcement for the film comes from casting. Cast as the legend himself is none other than Daniel Radcliffe.

Questionable Casting

Daniel Radcliffe has plenty of acting credits such as being in, Harry Potter, of course, The Woman In Black, Miracle Workers, the absurdist comedy Swiss Army Man, as well as the villain in Now You See Me 2. His acting skills range from horror to comedy to dramatic roles. And he’s great at all of them. However, even though we’ve seen him do comedic roles previously, can he live up to the comedic chops of the icon Weird Al himself? Weird Al seems to think so as he has said that “this is the role future generations will remember him for”. Which is a bold statement since he is forever known as the boy who lived.

Clearly, Weird Al has a lot of faith in Daniel Radcliffe, but, to me, this is a real out-of-the-box casting. Radcliffe looks nothing like Weird Al. The biggest difference being he is 7 inches shorter. Although I am sure there are ways to get around that – apple boxes and whatnot. And yes, I have learned to try and reserve my judgment – especially with Colin Farrell as the Penguin. But, I am sure if any actor is up for it, it would be Radcliffe. Although, I am bias being a huge Radcliffe fan myself. I mean he did get naked on stage so is there anything he won’t do?

Production begins

This film is being written by Weird Al himself in collaboration with Eric Appel (Son of Zorn)l, who will also be directing it. Producing the film is Funny or Die along with Tango.
