Other than a few flashback appearances, Boba Fett’s ship the Slave I has been absent from The Book of Boba Fett Series. But one thing that isn’t absent is all the talk around what to call Fett’s ship. Is it still Slave I, is it Boba Fett’s Starship, or something else? As a Fett fan, you can call it whatever you want but it does seem that the name will no longer be Slave I.
Slave I, Boba Fett’s Starship, Or Firespray?
If you are a fan of the iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett then you probably remember back in June when it was reported that the iconic ship known as Slave I looked to be getting a name change. This was noticed when LEGO announced their new Boba Fett’s Starship set and not calling it Slave I. Well since then there have been a few other toy releases of this ship but none having the Slave I name. So what is the official name now of this ship? Well, it looks like we may have finally got an answer thanks to an interview with The Wrap and Temuera Morrison.
The Wrap: “So Boba Fett’s ship has been stripped of its name, so I have been wondering have you guys given any thought on what to call Boba Fett’s ship now?”
Temuera Morrison: “I think we call it the Firespray, I think I’ve mentioned it in a couple of episodes. I think Firespray. I think it is a gunship now. That’s what we’re calling it. We’re calling it Firespray gunship.”
Well, it does seem that the Slave I days are over. But like I said before call it what you want. I mean will this name change really change if you are a fan of Boba Fett? Im going to guess probably not. While no official reason has been given yet, the name Slave I name more than likely changed to Firespray Gunship to help stay clear of controversy.

Firespray is the name of the class of the ship that Boba Fett flies, much like the Imperial Star Destroyer is a class of ship or Nebulon-B is a class of ship or a CR90 Corellian corvette. The name of Fett’s ship is Slave-1 and has been since it’s inception…..
We don’t call the Millennium Falcon, YT-1300. So they need to keep it Slave I.
