Ever wondered what Rick and Morty would look like if they were parodying some famous sci-fi works? Well, you can stop wondering soon enough.
Rick and Morty: All the Sci-Fi Parodies You Could Ever Want
Oni Press and Warner Consumer Products, in collaboration with Adult Swim, are proud to a trio of new Rick and Morty comic books. The titles of this trio are, in order: Rick and Morty Presents: HeRICKTics of Rick, Rick and Morty Presents: Morty’s Run, and Rick and Morty: Infinity Hour. As you can guess, all of them parody famous sci-fi stories, but with a twist. Find out more details for each comic below:
Rick and Morty Presents: HeRICKTics of Rick:
A one-shot comic by Amy Chu (Poison Ivy: Circle of Life, Sea Sirens) and Alexander Chang, with art by Sarah Stern (Rick and Morty, Aggretsuko), and lettering by crank! As you can tell, it’s a Dune parody. The synopsis from Oni Press gives us some more details:
“When Rick finds the source of a new, incredibly powerful substance, he lays claim to an entire planet in order to corner the market. But Rick and Morty aren’t the only ones on the recently renamed Arrickis, and the original inhabitants aren’t going to go away quietly. Soon they become embroiled in the local political and religious struggle, forcing them to try and escape not only with their lives, but with their minds intact!”
Rick and Morty Presents: HeRICKTics of Rick will be available on January 26, 2022. You can preorder it on Amazon for $4.99.
Rick and Morty Presents: Morty’s Run:
Another one-shot comic, but this time by Ivan Cohen (Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries, Justice League: The One Where…), illustrated by Puste (Rick and Morty), with colors by Leonardo Ito (Batman’89, Rick and Morty™), and lettering by crank! It’s a Logan’s Run parody, if the running didn’t grab your attention. The Oni Press synopsis gives us yet more info:
“In Rick and Morty™ Presents: Morty’s Run, Morty finds out he’s going to summer camp and will do anything to escape, including listening to Rick. Can Morty survive a world ruled by thirteen-year-olds all by himself?”
Rick and Morty Presents: Morty’s Run will be available on March 2, 2022. Unfortunately, we have no preorder info at the time of this writing. Check back later for more info.
Rick and Morty: Infinity Hour:
This time, we have a 4-issue comic series here. Written by Mags Visaggio (Rick and Morty™, Lost on Planet Earth), illustrated by Marc Ellerby (Rick and Morty™), and with colors by Leonardo Ito and lettering by crank! If you can’t tell, the parody this time is Star Wars. Oni Press’s last synopsis for the day tells us:
“Rick has always known he was destined for greater things but when that greater thing calls, will he be ready to answer? In the four-issue miniseries Rick and Morty: Infinity Hour, Rick is recruited to join a galactic rebellion, forming a bond with a ragtag group of freedom fighters, mystics, and mercenaries. Can this team of would-be heroes overthrow the Galactic Federation?”
Rick and Morty: Infinity Hour will be available on March 2, 2022. Unfortunately, we have no preorder info at the time of this writing. Check back later for more info.
