SNEAKERS?!

If you’re asking yourself, sneakers? You need a quick education on sneaker culture. Shoutout to Nike and how they’ve marketed their iconic sneakers and Jordan Brand. The price, style, and partnership with Michael Jordan with the Air Jordan 1’s brought sports apparel mainstream in the ‘90s. Now, you can see lines around the corner for sneaker launches. As well as, people making bank as resellers lucky enough to get their hands on a pair. Sneakerheads are everywhere, and now the culture is coming to Disney+

Set in the avant-garde street-sneaker subculture of New York City, Sneakerella brings us a gender-flipped twist on the Cinderella tale. Check out the trailer below.

Here is the official synopsis from Disney+

El (Chosen Jacobs) is an aspiring sneaker designer from Queens who works as a stock boy in the shoe store that once belonged to his late mother. He hides his artistic talent from his overburdened stepfather and two mean-spirited step brothers who constantly thwart any opportunity that comes his way. When El meets Kira King (Lexi Underwood), the fiercely independent daughter of legendary basketball star and sneaker tycoon Darius King (John Salley), sparks fly as the two bond over their mutual affinity for sneakers. With a little nudge from his best friend and a sprinkle of Fairy Godfather magic, El finds the courage to use his talent to pursue his dream of becoming a ‘legit’ sneaker designer in the industry.
