Well, it looks like we’re not going to get to see the old pilot of Powerpuff anytime soon. Not if The CW has anything to say about it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW is redeveloping the pilot episode for the live-action Powerpuff series. What this really means is that The CW are reshooting the whole thing. They make no mention as to why The CW want a new pilot. We can only guess that they really didn’t like the original pilot for some reason, and want a new one.
Powerpuff: A New Pilot and a New Cast?
Now for the good news though: the cast for Powerpuff will not change. Chloe Bennett, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault will still return to play Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup respectively. Donald Faison will also return to play the girls’ father as Prof. Utonium. Lastly, Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody will also remain with the show as writers and executive producers.
Unfortunately, that’s it as far as returning cast for Powerpuff. There’s no information about anyone else returning for this new pilot episode. It’s entirely possible that Robyn Lively will not return to play Sara Bellum, nor will Tom Kenny return to play Mr. Narrator (which is especially hilarious due to him being the original Narrator for the cartoon). We’ll just have to wait for more official info from The CW about returning cast.
Conclusion
The CW is reshooting the pilot episode for their live action adaptation of The Powerpuff Girls. Some of the main cast and the executive producers will return for this new pilot of Powerpuff. Everyone else’s fates are up in the air. We’ll just have to wait for more information later.
