It’s going to be a good day. The long-awaited Dear Evan Hansen trailer has arrived!

The Broadway musical phenomenon brings back star Ben Platt for its feature film adaptation. Watch the trailer below for your first look at the film.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age, who goes on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance following the suicide of a fellow classmate. It’s a powerfully emotional story, and based on this trailer, the film version will have us all weeping just like the stage musical.

The film was written by Steven Levenson, who also penned the Broadway show. It will feature Grammy winning songs and memorable anthems from the musical, including “You Will Be Found,” “Waving Through a Window,” “For Forever,” and “Words Fail.” Acclaimed filmmaker Stephen Chbosky will direct.

Platt reprises his show role as the title character Evan Hansen. The film also stars Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Colton Ryan, Nik Dodani, DeMarius Copes, and Danny Pino.

So, what did you think of the Dear Evan Hansen trailer? If you’re a fan of the original musical, does the movie look like everything you dreamed it would be? Give us your thoughts in the comments!

(Now, here’s my undoubtedly unpopular opinion: While it’s hard to imagine Platt not playing Evan Hansen… he definitely looks too old to play a teenager now. Sorry, that’s the truth!)

Dear Evan Hansen hits theaters September 24.
