The Demon Slayer: Mugen Train anime film will arrive in theaters on April 23, 2021. As if the hype for it wasn’t already at max level, Funimation has something special for us.
In anticipation of the upcoming release of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, Funimation (in partnership with Aniplex of America) officially announces the release of 3 TV special episodes of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. These 3 special episodes were originally only available via Japanese broadcast. However, Funimation now brings them to you with both Japanese audio with English subtitles, and in English dub to boot. All 3 special episodes will launch on April 15, 2021 at 3 P.M. (CT); so you have expect to see them soon, if not already by the time of this writing.
Demon Slayer: Recap no Yaiba
So what exactly are these Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba special episodes about? Well, all 3 episodes are basically recaps of the anime series as a whole. The first episode, Sibling’s Bond, will recap the very beginning of the anime, and how Tanjiro and Nezuko managed to get into this demon mess in the first place. The second episode, Mt. Natagumo Arc, will recap the most dramatic part of the anime, where Tanjiro and his friends face off against a group of powerful spider demons inhabiting a mountain forest. Finally, we have the third episode, The Hashira Meeting Arc, which will recap Tanjiro and co.’s meeting with the top leaders of the Demon Slayer Corps.
As an added bonus for all us Demon Slayer fans, The Hashira Meeting Arc will have some extra footage in it. This “Special Cut!” is not present in the original anime. This makes it a delightful treat for anyone watching it. Or you can just skip to the extra footage if you don’t watch the whole thing. It’s up to you.
Conclusion
Funimation is building up the hype for the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train anime film to absurd levels. How else do you explain them releasing this 3-episode TV special? If you want to watch a recap of most of the entire anime series, or if you just want to watch the bonus bits in the third episode, check them out on Funimation. And who knows? It might come to Crunchyroll as well later.
