Paramount+’s Rugrats revival just added some new faces. Nicole Byer, Tony Hale, and Natalie Morales join the series as parents to the adventurous kids.

Byer will play Susie’s mother (opposite Omar Miller as Susie’s father). Hale will play Chuckie’s father, and Morales the mother of twins Phil and Lil.

The trio join the other adult characters cast, including Ashley Spillers and Tommy Dewey as Tommy’s parents; Anna Chlumsky and Timothy Simons as Angelica’s parents; and Michael McKean as Grandpa Pickles.

The voices of the original Rugrats themselves will return for the revival too. Returning cast members include E.G. Daily (Tommy Pickles), Nancy Cartwright (Chuckie Finster), Cheryl Chase (Angelica Pickles), Cree Summer (Susie Carmichael) and Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil DeVille). 

Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins recently discussed the casting choices with Deadline.

“First of all, we have all the original babies back, all the original cast back, which we are thrilled to have” said Robbins. “Some of the original actors — remember the show is 20-25+  years-old, and we thought there was an opportunity for new exciting comedic voices who grew up watching and being fans of the show and let them do cameos. So we are really excited about our adult cast on Rugrats.“

The original Rugrats cartoon premiered nearly three decades ago. The series proved a huge hit with viewers, spawning product lines and three feature films. Rugrats ran for nine seasons. In that time, the series earned four Daytime Emmy Awards as well as six Kids’ Choice Awards.

The reimagined series coming to Paramount+ is set to debut this spring.
