IO Interactive, the company behind the Hitman and Kane and Lynch games, now unveil a teaser trailer for their latest game. What is it, you may ask? Apparently, it has a working title of Project 007. Yes, you heard that right: it’s a James Bond game.
As you can see though, there’s not much in the way of actual substance in this Project 007 teaser trailer. It seems that IO Interactive want to keep any details tightly under wraps. Although, the fact that they haven’t actually started developing this game may also be part of the reason for this. It’s hard to show off any substance when you don’t have any.
Project 007: Not Enough Intel to Die Over
All we got for this teaser trailer is a short animation of someone (presumably James Bond) loading a gun and firing it, revealing the logo for Project 007 at the end. The interesting thing about the teaser is that the camera is actually inside the gun, first pointing towards the chamber as the gun is loaded, and then slowly panning towards the muzzle, where we finally see daylight out the other end.
Also, the gun appears to be a bolt-action rifle of some description based on how James Bond loads it and the size and shape of the bullet (which seems to be a 7.62x51mm NATO round), but that’s a detail that’s only of interest to us gun nuts. Although, we have seen James Bond use rifles and other long-arms in some of the movies and games whenever he want to take out enemies from a distance. This seems to suggest that sniping will be a major component of Project 007‘s gameplay.
Although that’s just speculation at this point. You’re free to take it with as much salt as you like.
Conclusion
IO Interactive’s teaser trailer for their new Project 007 game is pretty cool, but devoid of anything about the actual game. We can only make guesses based on tiny details from the teaser. To be fair though, they haven’t even started working on the game yet, so there’s no point in complaining about it. And if the critical acclaim for the latest Hitman games are anything to go off on, James Bond is in good hands here.
