Ke Huy Quan has had a very long and storied career in the film industry. In fact, it’s so long that he started his career as a child actor. Fans of ’80s films will remember him as Short Round from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Data from The Goonies (1985). Needless to say, both were highly successful films. Not least of which because of Quan’s performances in them.

However, his acting career came to a screeching halt as a young adult in the early 2000’s. Unable to find any acting work in the U.S. as an adult, he would eventually quit in order to take what would become a 19-year hiatus. During that time, he enrolled in the film program at University of Southern California. He ended up editing a horror-comedy short film titled Voodoo for a friend, before moving on to become a stunt choreographer. Most notably, he choreographed stunts for X-Men (2000), The One (2001), and 2046 (2004).

It wouldn’t be until 2021 when Ke Huy Quan returned to acting as Kioki in Finding ‘Ohana. However, it was playing Waymond Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once that would land him fame and awards, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Fun fact: he’s actually the first Vietnam-born actor to ever win that prestigious award. From there, he would go on to star in Loki season 2 as “O.B.”.

Finally though, we come to his starring role as Marvin Gable in the upcoming film Love Hurts. This one shall be remembered as the film that immortalized Ke Huy Quan into Hollywood fame. Especially when that film will land him the honor of a Hand and Footprint Ceremony like the actors and actresses of yore.

Ke Huy Quan Hand and Footprint Ceremony: Details

NBCUniversal and 87North are proud to announce that Ke Huy Quan will be immortalized into Hollywood with a Hand and Footprint Ceremony. Like all who came before him, this ceremony will take place at the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX®on Hollywood Blvd. on Monday, February 3, 2025. All to celebrate the upcoming release of Love Hurts just four days later on February 7, 2025.

Ke Huy Quan won’t just join all those actors and actresses who came before him. He will also join the very short list of Asian and Asian-American actors to get that honor. A list that started with George Takei in 1991 when he and his fellow crewmembers aboard the USS Enterprise of Star Trek fame had that exact ceremony. From there, that list continued with actors and filmmakers such as Jackie Chan, James Hong, John Woo, and Justin Lin. A list that now continues with Quan.
